The \u201cMother of God\u201d Monastery (CMG) hosted a new edition of the Days of Marian spirituality dedicated to the Holy Virgin Mary, in May 17-19 2019. The programme took place in the monastery\u2019s chapel and included, besides the daily Mass, devotions such as The Oratory of the Mother of God, The Rosary and a series of conferences. Together with the Sisters of the CMG, there was a big participation of lay people, most of them pertaining to The Sodality of Our Lady.<\/p>\n
Friday, May 17th, Prof. Fr. Cristian Langa<\/strong> stopped at the \u201ccare and waiting of the Holy Virgin Mary\u201d. He asked: \u201cWhat does care suppose?\u201d and showed that it can be \u201csomething negative when it steals our silence, focus and trust.\u201d On the other hand, \u201ccare for not missing a chance, a date, is the care that generates wellbeing.\u201d In conclusion, \u201ccare for the essentials is positive\u201d. He noticed that care for the word does not only mean hearing it, but more: \u201ccare demands waiting and availability for receiving the word.\u201d He then discussed the second word, \u201cwaiting\u201d, that \u201chas many meanings and it is time conditioned.\u201d Waiting means \u201cto be present, to be ready. It is also an expectation from someone, to hope, to carefully observe. It also means waiting and receiving guests.\u201d<\/p>\n In this key of care and waiting, Fr. Cristian also underlined the way of being of Mary, starting from her Fiat at the Annunciation, her visit to Elisabeth, the presentation at the Temple, her words at the wedding in Cana: \u201cDo whatever he tells you\u201d (Jn 2,5)... Inspired words made the \u201cfull of grace\u201d to be present: words of hope, joy, love, giving, everything embedded in faith, conscious and free abandonment, in a continuous dialogue with the Creator. The features of the Holy Virgin Mary were then applied to the life of today\u2019s Christians, with the need of following her example in everything, to let us be guided by her in listening and receiving the word of God, in order to also discover in our lives \u201cGod\u2019s wine of love\u201d.<\/p>\n Saturday, May 18th, Fr. Daniel Avram<\/strong>, eparchy counsellor, talked about \u201cthe presence of the Holy Virgin in our lives\u201d, based on some of the homilies of the Holy Father Pope Francis for the Feast of The Mother of God (from the roman rite). He first reminded us that \u201cthe presence of the Holy Virgin is fundamental to our lives and it should be continuous\u201d, sustaining his point of view with the words of the Holy Father, who affirms:\u201cour way of faith is indissolubly connected to Mary from the moment Jesus, dying on the Cross, gave her to us as a mother: \u00abBehold your Mother! \u00bb; from that moment on the mother of God became our Mother, source of hope and true happiness.\u201d<\/em> \u00abiat\u0103 mama ta!\u00bb; din acel moment mama lui Dumnezeu a devenit \u0219i mama noastr\u0103<\/em>, izvor de speran\u021b\u0103 \u0219i bucurie adev\u0103rat\u0103<\/em>\u201c.<\/p>\n Another aspect he underlined: \u201cwe cannot understand Jesus without his mother. The motherly tenderness and continuous presence of the Holy Virgin Mary in the middle of the Christian community is a visible aspect in almost all of the Holy Father\u2019s homilies.\u201d<\/p>\n The Holy Father also notices that \u201cwhen the time was right<\/em>, , when he came into the world, God, in whose presence all is silent, makes himself a Child that does not speak.<\/em>. His mystery of love is shown in his lowliness. This is the language of his royalty and the Holy Virgin Mary, the mother of our Saviour Jesus Christ, is associated to the Son in keeping this silence<\/em>.\u201d Thereby, in our lives, we can speak of the necessity of silence, we need to stay silent so we can let Jesus speak in our hearts.<\/p>\n \u201cAnother important idea of the Holy Father in 2019 is that God Almighty chose to enter our lives through a mother.<\/em> He did not miss to have a mother, which is why, the Holy Father goes on, the Holy Virgin is not something optional; she must be received in our lives<\/em>.\u201d And \u201cMary holds in her heart the life of each and every one of us. She wants to embrace all our situations and present them to God. She knows everything and that is why we trust her intercession. We all understand and need her tender intercession, the motherly presence of the Most Holy Virgin Mary in our spiritual lives. That is why there are so many Marian sanctuaries around the world, that is why we are so attracted to these sanctuaries. Mary is the one that consoles us, the one that stays besides the lonely one\u201d, Fr. Daniel concluded.<\/p>\n In the afternoon, Fr. Marius Cerghizan<\/strong>, vicar for the priests, presented another theme: \u201cMary, mother, virgin and bride\u201d<\/em>and searched, based upon some gospel fragments, responses for questions like: \u201cWho is Mary for us?\u201d, \u201cWhat does her life, deeds, faith transmit to us today?\u201d. He spoke about Mary\u2019s virtues, whom we can \u201cplace in the peak of the biblical spirituality of waiting and receiving the Word of God.\u201d The conference embedded some etymological aspects of the name of Mary<\/em>: \u201cwith Hebrew origins, the name of The Most Holy Virgin Mary comes from Maryam<\/em> its counterpart Miriam Miriam<\/em> \u2013 a name composed of two elements: \u05de\u05e8 mar<\/em> \u2013 drop and \u05d9\u05dd yam<\/em> \u2013 sea.\u201d He mentioned that \u201cin the Latin translation, stilla maris<\/em>, the scribes mistakenly wrote stella maris<\/em> , thus naming her the Star of the sea<\/em>, a very inspired error, for today the whole Church sings to her: Ave, Stella maris!<\/em> – \u2013 Rejoice, Star of the sea!\u201d<\/em>!.<\/p>\n \u201cHuman life is a journey on the sea of history, often obscure and stormy. A journey in which we look at the stars upon the sky that show us the way to follow. But the real stars of our lives are people, those persons that knew how to live in justice and sacrifice. We will shortly accompany them, those who transmitted us the faith, at the altar where they will be declared blessed. Jesus is the light, the Sun that rises upon the whole universe, upon the darkness of history. But in order to get to Him we also need closer lights, persons that give light from His light and they offer it to guide those that wish to go on His way.\u201d<\/p>\n Isus este lumina, Soarele care r\u0103sare deasupra \u00eentregului univers, deasupra \u00eentunericului istoriei. A \u00eenceput de la Catedrala Notre Dame<\/em>, care a luat foc, \u201eun eveniment ce ne-a atins pe mul\u0163i \u00een ad\u00e2ncuri, ne-a tulburat, a scos lacrimi \u015fi ne-a pr\u0103bu\u015fit pe g\u00e2nduri: oare, Doamne, ne p\u0103r\u0103se\u015fti? Fie \u015fi pentru c\u00e2teva secunde… Iar Sf. Apostol Pavel scrie: Cine este scandalizat \u015fi eu s\u0103 nu m\u0103 aprind? Cine se sminte\u015fte \u015fi eu s\u0103 nu ard?<\/em> Se dest\u0103inuie Sf. Apostol Pavel \u2013 sunt cuvinte ce pot fi meditate \u00een acest context\u201d.<\/p>\n Alt moment semnificativ: \u201eEste iminent\u0103 \u015fi tot mai apropiat\u0103 vizita Pontifului Roman, Papa Francisc, \u00een Rom\u00e2nia \u015fi la Blaj.
